Ball valves


  • Full Bore Design: The bore diameter of the ball is identical to the pipeline inner diameter. Its flow resistance coefficient Kv is close to that of a straight pipe with extremely low pressure drop loss, maximizing flow capacity, significantly improving pipeline transportation efficiency and reducing energy consumption of pump stations.

  • Trunnion Mounted Structure: The ball is connected to the valve body via upper and lower trunnion shafts. Sliding bearings and thrust bearings withstand the huge thrust generated by medium pressure. The operating torque is not affected by pressure differential or nominal size, ensuring low-torque operation for large-bore full bore valves.

  • Pneumatic Actuator: Equipped with high-performance rack-and-pinion or Scotch Yoke pneumatic actuators, featuring high output torque and fast action speed. Available in double-acting and single-acting spring return types to realize remote automatic control and emergency shutoff of the valve.

  • Low Flow Resistance Seat Design: The valve seat adopts a streamlined transition structure with smooth flow passage without sudden changes, eliminating turbulence and vortex flow to further reduce flow resistance and noise.

  • Flange Connection: Adopts RF (Raised Face) or RTJ (Ring Type Joint) flange connection in compliance with ASME B16.5 standard, ensuring installation reliability and sealing performance under high-pressure working conditions.

  • Dual Piston Effect (DPE) Seat: The seat is designed with dual piston effect, achieving reliable bidirectional sealing regardless of medium flow direction and supporting DBB (Double Block and Bleed) function.

  • Anti-Static Device: Built-in anti-static springs and grounding device ensure the resistance between the ball, stem and valve body is less than 10Ω, eliminating static accumulation risks and suitable for flammable and explosive media.

  • Anti-Blowout Stem Design: The valve stem adopts an integrally forged anti-blowout structure with multiple seals, preventing stem ejection under abnormal pressure conditions and ensuring operational safety.

  • Fire Safe Design: Compliant with API 6FA / API 607 standards. The secondary metal sealing structure maintains sealing performance even in fire scenarios and prevents secondary disasters caused by medium leakage.

  • Emergency Sealant Injection System: API 6D standard grease injection valves are arranged at the seat and stem positions. Sealant can be injected in emergency situations to achieve temporary sealing and leakage repair.

  • Spring Return Safety Function: The actuator is optional with single-acting spring return type, which automatically fails open (FO) or fails closed (FC) when air supply fails to guarantee system safety.

  • Position Feedback & Monitoring: Standard mechanical valve position indicator; limit switches, valve position transmitters and solenoid valves are optional to realize remote status monitoring and interlock control.

Seat Princlple

Two independent seat rings grant the sealing, barrieragainst the line pressure actingon the upstream and downstreamsides of the valve which allows the valve tobe bidirectional.


A set ofcoil springs acting, between the upstream side ofeach seatring,andthe body,generate an uniform thrust on theseat which push the same against the ball and grant the sealingfeature with no orverylow pressureinthe line,when the line pressure increasethe thrust actingon theseat increases proportionally and the sealing leatureis granted throughout the fullpressure range.


The J-VALVES SPE trunnion mounted ball valves are available with Double

Block & Bleed in dependent oftheseat type.

8Single Piston Effect

Single piston effect (SPE) is the stand ard feature for theseat rings of the 

J-VALVES SPE trunnion mounted ball valves.


On a SPE seat ring:

The pressure ac tingon the upstream side ofthe seat ringgenerates aforce which push theseattowards the ball.The pressure actingon the downstream side ofthe seatring generates a force which pull theseatring away fromthe ball.


Anyoverpressure which may be generated by the thermal expansion of the fluid trapped in thebodycavity with the ballin fully closed position, will beautomatically dischargedinthe line on the lower pressure side.

Double Piston Effect

Double piston effect(DPE) is a stand ard feature fortheseat rings ofthe 

J-VALVES trunnion mounted ball valves & recommended forwelded body valves. Ona DPE seat ring, both the pressure acting on the upstream sideof theseatring andthe pressure acting on thedownstreamside of the  seatring, generatea forcewhich push the seattowards the ball.


With th is type ofseat ring,the eventual over press ure whichmay be generated by the thermal expansion ofthe fluidtrappedinthebodyeavitywith theball in fullyclosed position,can be discharged by the use of:

An external safetyrelief device.

The Double Piston Effect grants a double sealingfeature,iftheupstreamseat ringisdamaged, thedown stream seatgrant the sealingfeature of the valve.

Stem

  • The stem is independent from the ballandis not subject to theside load generated by the line pressure acting on the ball. 

  • Two O-Rings and agraphite gasket grant a triple barrierand thefire safe sealing on the stem.

  • Abuilt instemsealant injectionsystemis provided as

    a standardfeature.

  • The standard antIblow-out eature ofthe stemis

    inaccrdance to API6D and is granted by the bodvcover. By removing the gland bushing the upper stem gasket can be replaced for

    maintenance with thevalve in service.

Ball

  • Inside entry valves 4" and smaller the ball is kept in position by an upper and alower trunnion,housed

    in the primary body.

  • Inside entry valves 6" and larger the ballis kept in position by an upper and alower trunnion, housed

    in two bearing blocks

  • Both the trunnions absorb the side load generated by the line pressureacting on the ball,without affecting the rotation of the stem

  • Large diameter trunnions minimize the torque required to operatethe valve.

  • The trunnion srotateinto metalbacked

    self-lubricating bearings.

Emergency Seat Injection

Emergency grease in jection fitting forseat rings are standard for6" and larger valves and as option on sizes 2"-4".

An eedle valve, complete with non return check valve is screwed in the bodyand connected to theseatrings.

The emergency sealantinjection can temporarily solve leakage problems, seatsshall be re paired at the first opportunity.

For valves smaller than 6" seat sealant in jection fitting can beprovided in the body cavity

Body Vent & Drain

  • All J-VALVES SPE TMBV are complete with ascrewed NPT Plug, located in thelower side of the body completedraining of the body cavity.

  • For valves up to size 4"the drain and vent are combined in oneport.


14Double Block and Bleed

This feature permits to check the integrity of the seats without interfering withthe operation ofthe line andthe replacement of the upper stem seal with the valve inline. The body cavity can be drained and depressurized with the ball infully closed position, this feature which is available with all typeof seats(SPE,DPE or Combination) permits.

Extended Stem

Extended stem is supplied for Underground in stalla tion.

The stem seals arelocated inthe body Gland Plate.

The stem extension isnot affected by eventual stem seal failure.

Double Piston Effect

Extended bonnets are available for Cryogenic or high temperature service or special applications requiring this facility features.

18Low Emission Stem Sealing

J-VALVES SPE tandard stem sealing arrang ement offers Low Emission using a tri ple barrier arrangement certified to the latest lS0 15848 standard.

Anti-Blowout ProofStem

Stem is retained by the cover, the gland plate can beremovedwithvaweinfullyclosed position with the bodycavityvented toatmosphere. The upper stem Oring can be replaced formaintenance with valve in service

Anti-Static Device

All J-VALVES SPE Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves,areequippedwith an anti- static devicetoassurethetotalelectricalconductancebetween all metalparts of the valves.

All J-VALVES complete range of Side entry,Top Entryand Welded body ball valves are certifiedfire safe according to AP1607/1S0 10497 - API6 FA.

Transition pieces (pups), can be supplied forWeldingEnds Valwes to facilitate the welding ofthe valve totheline for:

Material compatibility.

Exces sive difference in strengthsand thickness betweenvalve closures and line pipe (limit is 1.5 times).

Avoiding damages to the valve soft seals.Important note: When transition pieces are supplied bythe customers, itisimperative to verifyif the strengthofthe same, suitable to undergothe hydro- test ofthevalve without damages ordeformations(1.5 times thevalve maximum rated pressure)
