Cast Steel EPDM Lined Wafer Lug Type Concentric Butterfly Valve
Concentric Butterfly valves operate on a similar principle as ball valves. However, instead of a ball being placed in the valve body, a circular disc (resembling wings of a butterfly due to the two half circles surrounding the vertical shaft) is used.
The flowrate is determined by the orientation of the butterfly. When the butterfly aligns with the direction of the pipe, allowing the least cross-sectional area for the fluid to pass through, it enables full flow.
As the butterfly deviates from the pipe direction, the flowrate becomes limited due to the increased obstruction area for the fluid. Eventually, when the butterfly is positioned at a 90-degree angle to the pipe direction, the flow is completely shut off.
